St. Leo & St. Ann's Annual Roast Beef Dinner

From 11:30AM to 3:00PM

The Parish Community of St. Leo & St. Ann in Holland Patent will be holding their Annual Roast Beef Harvest Dinner in the parish hall downstairs at 7937 Elm St in Holland Patent. The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children 5 -12; and children under 5 are free. Take-outs are available. The proceeds will benefit parish improvements. The parish hall is now handicapped accessible.

Community Day at the Baseball Hall of Fame

From 12:00PM to 5:00PM

Celebrate the Summer Success of 2014 with the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum’s Community Day! Free admission for residents of Otsego County all day long, as the Museum celebrates its 75th Anniversary with “Turn Back the Clock Weekend” in celebration of the inaugural year opening of the Museum in 1939. Learn about the Museum’s 2014 new arrivals, participate in programs celebrating the opening of the Museum in 1939 and learn more about what lies ahead in the next 75 years for the Baseball Hall of Fame. 12pm-2pm: Make Your Own Hall of Fame Plaque (Learning Center) Stop by the Learning Center on the first floor to participate in making your own Hall of Fame plaque, an interactive workshop for children and families. Participants are invited to showcase their talents by making a special Hall of Fame plaque on a pre-made template explaining why the person they chose is a Hall of Famer. 12pm – 2pm: Vintage Base Ball with Pete Young (Cooper Park-Weather Permitting) Today's game of baseball can trace its origins back to a number of stick and ball games played in the American colonies. Weather permitting, Pete Young will serve as host, instructor and umpire as he teaches the rules and customs of how a vintage town ball game was played in the 19th Century. 2pm - Memories of Opening Day Roundtable with Catherine Walker and Homer Osterhoudt Join local residents who were present for the opening of the Museum on June 12, 1939 - Home Osterhoudt and Catherine Walker - who will share their memories in a program for visitors in the Bullpen Theater. 3pm – A Hall for Heroes Film Screening (Bullpen Theater) Join us for a special screening of this film produced by MLB Advanced Media and narrated by Bob Costas as we honor the Hall of Fame's 75th Anniversary. The film tells the story of the founding of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and the first Induction Ceremony, held in 1939.
