Planting Days: A Spring Celebration

See newborn animals on an historic farm and help plant heritage varieties of vegetables at The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown. This is your opportunity to celebrate spring as it was done in the 1840s. See a variety of historic and modern spring activities, including making spring tonics and sheep shearing. Local environmental and gardening groups will share their knowledge with you and get you started by planting historic vegetable seeds in six-packs you can take home. You can find rare varieties of ornamental and medicinal plants at our annual heritage plant sale all weekend. Our Children's Barnyard will showcase baby sheep, goats, and other animals. Step back to a time when agriculture and gardening was a way of life!
