4-H District Public Presentation

From 11:00AM to 4:00PM

4-H Members from Herkimer, Madison, Oneida and Oswego Counties invite you to Tractor Supply in Rome as they participate in 4-H District Public Presentations. Ask a 4-H alumnus, “Which 4-H experience has served you the best throughout their careers and life?” Hands down the reply will be “Public Speaking”. Through participation in the 4-H Public Speaking program, youth ages 5-19, learn to express themselves with confidence and skill. Workshops are held throughout the year to aid the members in learning: what makes a talk interesting, how to handle questions from the audience, and how to present yourself so that you project a professional image. All of the youth participating at Tractor Supply in Rome have completed various levels of competition to reach the 4-H District Event. In the past the District Event was the pinnacle of accomplishment for these participants. This year the 4-H State Event has been resurrected and provides our senior speakers an opportunity to compete against fellow NY State 4-H Members at Cornell on May 18th. Youth will be speaking on the following topics: Abe Lincoln Ballet Racehorse Seabiscuit From My Oven to Yours Survival To Make Doll Furniture Airplane Parts and How they Work Eat Grass, Why Pasture Products are Better Mount Rushmore How to Make Tacos Ride and Slide Black Widow Spider To Kill a Mockingbird The Distraction of Daydreams The Right of the People Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development programs connect youth to the resources of Cornell University and the land-grant system, strengthening the next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs and problem-solvers. Activities and events inspire and shape youth, give them opportunities to master skills, enrich their knowledge, and work with others who can positively influence them. To become involved in 4-H, contact your local Cornell Cooperative Extension office or visit this website: http://cce.cornell.edu/Youth/Pages/4-HYouthDevelopment.aspx
